Lock your Folder WIthout Any Software

Its a trick which can be implemented in Windows XP to deny access to some folders. Use the steps given below to use trick.

Suppose you want to lock the folder games in d: which

has the path D:\Games.In the same drive create a text

file and type:

ren games games.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

Now save this text file as loc.bat

create another text file and type in it:

ren games.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} games

Now save this text file as key.bat

Now you can see 2 batch files loc and key. Press loc and the folder games will change to control panel and you cannot view its contents. Press key and you will get back your original folder

There are other codes which can even be tried::: Use the step as above to turn them into other folders except control corner. To do that simply replace the .extension with the names given below.

So sit back and hide your important folders from others

note: The only problem with this trick is that if someone opens the folder using a software suppose power achiever or winRar explorer then the extension to the folder would also be shown. And if the person deletes the extension then the folder can be easily be accessible.

3. Open Member Directory and click on "View My Profiles" link. Now you can create alias using "Create New Public Profile" button.

4. Open Yahoo! Messenger, login and goto "Messenger -> My Profiles". Now click on "Create/Edit My Profiles" button.

You can also use this direct link to create alias or personal names.

Now you can use all of your alias to send/receive mails, to chat in Yahoo! Messenger, etc.

How to convert a FAT volume or a FAT32 volume to NTFS

To convert an existing FAT or FAT32 volume to NTFS

follow these steps:

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.

At the command prompt, type the following, where drive letter is the drive that you want to convert:

convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs

For example, type the following command to convert drive E to NTFS:

convert e: /fs:ntfs

Note If the operating system is on the drive that you are converting, you will be prompted to 

schedule the task when you restart the computer because the conversion cannot be 

completed while the operating system is running. When you are prompted, click YES.

When you receive the following message at the command prompt,

type the volume label of the drive that you are converting, and then press ENTER:

The type of the file system is FAT.

Enter the current volume label for drive drive letter

When the conversion to NTFS is complete, you receive the following message at the command prompt:

Conversion complete

Quit the command prompt.

note: There is no chance of corruption or data loss during the conversion. Anyways backup very very important data is mandatory.

To Lock a folder in windows XP without any software

Follow the steps Below

1. Make a Folder in C drive rename it as "abc" without quotes.

2. Now open Command Prompt from Start Menu.

3. Type "attrib +s +h C:\abc" without quotes and press enter.

4. This command will Make your folder invisble and it can not be seen even in hidden files and folders

5. To make it visible again type "attrib -s -h C:\abc"

6. You can lock any other folder also by changing the location C:\abc to address of your folder.

7. If the command doesn't execute just execute from "C:/>Windows>System32"

note: Don't forget the folder location...
